Description
The ION Motor Mounting Blocks family offers two options for securely mounting motors and supporting extended shafts within robot mechanisms. Both versions use aluminum plates with integrated MAXSpline bores and bearing pockets, providing a consistent interface for shaft support and power transmission. Teams can choose either a fixed mounting block for on pitch structure or a clamping version for adjustable positioning on 2x1 or 1x1 tube, depending on the needs of their mechanism.
Motor Mounting Block (REV-21-3663)
The Motor Mounting Block is a two plate spaced mounting system designed for motors using a two inch #10 clearance bolt circle. The gap between plates creates room for pulleys or sprockets to sit between the structure and the motor, making it simple to route a belt or chain to other mechanisms. One plate attaches to the motor, the other to on pitch structure, forming a stable power transfer interface.
Integrated MAXSpline bores with bearing flange pockets allow the far end of a motor shaft to be supported directly in the block with a bearing, improving alignment and reducing load on the motor’s internal bearings. The design supports both three post and four post configurations. The slimmer three post setup is especially useful when routing larger pulleys or sprockets, enabling chain or belt paths to pass cleanly around the support post and leave at multiple angles.
Motor Mounting Clamping Block (REV-21-3662)
The Motor Mounting Clamping Block provides a fully adjustable mounting solution by clamping directly onto 2x1 or 1x1 aluminum tubing. The system uses a dedicated motor mounting plate combined with two clamping plates that lock onto tube structure, allowing teams to slide, rotate, and reposition the motor as needed. This makes it ideal for belt or chain tensioning, off pitch alignment, prototype iteration, and mechanisms where exact motor placement is critical.
Like the fixed mounting option, the clamping version includes a MAXSpline bore with a bearing support pocket, giving the motor shaft a stable outboard support point even in offset or floating motor configurations. The result is a precise and versatile mounting option that enables fine adjustments without altering the robot frame.
